William M. Slaughter



William M. Slaughter is the founding partner of the firm. A trial attorney for 30 years, his practice focuses on commercial and real estate litigation, complex insurance defense cases (including insurance bad faith, personal injury, habitability and mold cases). He has arbitrated and tried dozens of cases to conclusion.

Mr. Slaughter also serves as a mediator. He serves as a judge pro tem and also provides mediation services on a private basis. Mr. Slaughter brings the same innovative and result-oriented approach to mediation that he does to litigation. He focuses heavily on pre-mediation preparation and aggressively pursuing resolution.

Mr. Slaughter enjoys an excellent reputation as a lawyer across Southern California. He was given an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell (the highest rating possible) nearly 20 years ago. He was named a "Super Lawyer" in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and was recently selected as one of the "Best Lawyers in America."

Raised in Santa Paula, Mr. Slaughter currently resides in the Upper Ojai area with his wife, Rain Perry, and his two children. His family has lived in Ventura County since 1903. He has volunteered his time over the years to a variety of causes including the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce, Santa Paula Boys and Girls Club, and is a former member of the Santa Paula Rotary Club. He currently is a member of the Ventura County Sheriff's Foundation Board of Directors.

A life-long climber and outdoor sports enthusiast, Mr. Slaughter has participated since the mid-1980s as a member of the Upper Ojai Search and Rescue Team. It is a part of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. He has served as the Captain of this mountain rescue team for the last 10 years. In that capacity, he participates in and manages Search and Rescue activities in Ventura County and across California.
