Slaughter & Reagan Obtain Appellate Victories on Behalf of Landlord Client
In two related cases in Los Angeles County, Slaughter & Reagan obtained significant victories for its landlord client. In Massalas v. Steier and Mangine v. Steier, the tenants alleged that the landlord failed to maintain the property and improperly withdrew the units in question from a market which was subject to rent control. After obtaining victories in the trial court, plaintiffs appealed. The Court of Appeal affirmed the underlying judgments as well as an award totaling $160,000.00 against these plaintiffs. The case was handled by Gabriele M. Lashly who is a Certified Appellate Specialist with the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.
